I started my cooking journey in the courtyard of Hubble Hall at Texas A&M Commerce University. As a hungry college student, I traded plates of BBQ for toiletries and other necessities. What started as a way to get by soon became a real passion. I realized that feeding people brought me joy, and nothing made me happier than seeing friends come back for more.

The Moment That Changed Everything
In the summer of 2007, I was at a family BBQ when my mom’s best friend took a bite of my food and said, “Terrance, you should sell this—it's the best BBQ I've ever had!” I laughed it off at first, thinking I only had a small smoker. But then, my nine-year-old nephew, Garfield, spoke up and said, “That’s easy! Call it Smith Spot.” And just like that, the idea was born.
